Jo McCarroll has edited the country’s biggest and best-loved gardening magazine, NZ Gardener, since 2010. She lives in an Auckland suburb on a section crammed with vege beds, fruit trees and flowers. A frequent and popular speaker at garden festivals and garden clubs, you’ll often hear Jo on the radio talking about gardening. Jo is also the 2023 winner of the Horticultural Communications medal from the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. More recently, Jo authored the 2023 book, Vege Patch from Scratch, an inspiring, helpful guide to growing, and enjoying your own success in the edible garden. If you’re a newbie on the growing journey, or a little along the track and keen to pick up tips and tricks, then this is one talk that you should attend. Demystifying, detailed and practical, Jo’s down to earth, no thrills attitude to gardening will help get your journey started, or reignite the desire to grow your own.
