What’s on & where?

Informal tours and kōrero around growing sustainably at each of our 26 backyards located around Taranaki.

Workshops, talks, and tours are at backyards, community and school gardens, and local venues.

What does it cost?

Entry to backyards $3 cash (under 12 yrs free) or purchase a $12 Bundle card to visit 5 backyards. 

Bundle cards are available from:

• NP: EnviroHub, Crazy Pumpkin, Escape

• Stratford: Crazy Pumpkin

• Hāwera: Caffeinate Cafe

Backyard, community and school garden workshops and talks are either free or koha / donation. 

Ticketed events are affordable but individually priced - see events. Book online, limited spaces.

When is it happening?

The Backyards Trail and related events are Fri 1 Nov - Sun 10 Nov 2024. 

Open hours for backyard and school gardens are on the open hours schedule. 

All backyards open 10am-4pm both Sat & Sun, with evening and midweek hours for many properties. Community gardens are always open! 

BUILDS & FARMS

What you need to know

What’s on, where and when?

The Builds and Farms Trail are the week following the Backyards Trail from Mon 11 Nov until Sun 17 Nov 2024.  

Times for talks and tours for each day are on the Builds & Farms schedule.

Builds Trail.

Talks and tours of six properties with sustainable elements relating to design, materials, and construction, as well as two build related workshops. 

Farms Trail.

Talks and tours of seven farms, including dairy, beef, orchard and herb operations, each with notable aspects of sustainability. 

What does it cost?

Talks, tours and workshops for farms and builds are individually priced although most are free. 

Register for each event as spaces are limited.
